Ek Balam is one of the little-known archaeological zones in Yucatan but with great historical importance. Its meaning is in Maya and means Star Jaguar. The name of the site comes from a great man named Ek Balam or Coch Cal Balam, who was its founder and governor for 40 years. This place is located very close to Tizimin, an hour and a half from Playa del Carmen and 2 hours from Mérida.
Its relevance was to promote technical and cultural advances, as well as architectural and decorative wealth, the best example of which is Structure 35 Sub. The archaeological zone that is open is not very large and the tour without a guide is approximately 1 hour. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and they are not open on Mondays.
We love taking the kids as they can explore most of the sites. There are some temples where you can enter and there are bats that are harmless. There is plenty of free space for them to take a break and the children to play, as long as the rules are respected.
If you want to know the history of this place you can hire a guide for an approximate cost of $300 to $600 pesos. The cost to enter Ek Balam is $90 pesos, children, seniors and teachers do not pay. If you go on a Sunday, admission is free for all nationals. At the entrance there is a shop where they sell souvenirs, drinks and some delicious palettes of natural fruit. There are also restrooms and parking. Around the area there are restaurants in case you are hungry.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

El lugar es pequeño y fácil de recorrer. Hermoso lugar, muy interesante lo que los guías tiene para contar vale la pena tomarlo con uno y ojalá el gobierno apoyara más a el descubrimiento de esta y otras zonas
