Acerca de Chichen itzá

One of the 7 wonders of the world is located in Mexico and is Chichen Itza. This archaeological zone is one of the most spectacular for both children and adults. It is one of the most visited in the world after the Egyptian pyramids. It is located in Yucatan very close to Valladolid. 2 hours and a half from Mérida and 2 hours from Playa del Carmen. Its meaning in Spanish is Boca del pozo de los brujos del agua.

It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988. And in 2007 the Temple of Kukulcán, located in the center of Chichén Itzá, was recognized as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world. This due to its perfect monumental architecture. It has different 4 main tour areas and a wonderful cenote to which access is not permited but you can see it from above.

Its takes you around 2 to 3 hours to make the route. We suggest you arrive before 2 in the afternoon since at 4 they begin to close some areas and it will not be possible for you to complete the tour. Due to the type of flooring of the place, the use of a stroller or wheelchair is recommended. Children love to hear the legends that are told about the God Kukulcan. It is not possible to go up to any temple.

Inside and outside the place there are many merchants. There are toilets and parking with cost inside the place. There is an area selling snacks and drinks, however if you hire a tour packages includes visiting buffet restaurants in the area. You can also visit them on your own. We recommend that you bring sunscreen, enough water, a hat and comfortable shoes for the little ones.

On Sundays the entrance is free for nationals, and if you go during the week the cost is around $300 pesos. We remind you that for moms and dads who read KIDSin, your recommendations and opinions are highly valued, so we ask you to leave them below. Have you been to Chichen Itza with your family? Hermoso lugar!
