Olimpo Cultural Center was officially inaugurated in 1999. Its history is fascinating since it was a property built in 1700 and that went through several transformations, finally it was decided to make a cultural space to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Mérida.
This beautiful place is very striking and you have surely seen it when you pass through the center. This enclosure is dedicated to the promotion of culture, art and science in the city. From various art exhibitions, theater events, conferences, concerts, workshops and shows for children among others. Within its facilities, at the bottom, is the Arcadio Poveda Planetarium. Here there are projections and workshops for the little ones regarding the universe and the cosmos.
They will also find a library with more than 1,000 titles for consultation, including a children’s section. There is a small room where independent film shows are shown, a video room and a conference and exhibition room that rotates according to the season.
Within its monthly calendar there are many activities that you can find both free and low cost, for all ages. During the week there are trova concerts, jazz, bolero, piano recitals. On weekends they focus more on children where they present children’s plays, puppet shows, dance shows, among others.
During the holidays they carry out activities focused on the development of the arts in children. If you are interested in letting your children know more about the Olimpo Cultural Center, we suggest you visit the administrative offices during the week. Find out more places for children in our Parks o Restaurants sections and share KIDSin information on your social networks.

Fuimos un martes de trova y nos parecio increíble. Es gratuito, tiene un ambiente muy amigable con los niños y la música muy buena. Tradición yucateca en su estado más puro.
